TUF wins again!

TUF, Thriving Under Fire, has once again taken an award at the NZATD conference, for its innovation in Learning and Development.

John Faisandier, Managing Director of TUF, took the basic training processes of his TUF: Thriving Under Fire programme out to the Tongan community in Auckland last year. A background of VSA in Tonga, followed by an ongoing relationship with his Tongan family who now live in Auckland, inspired him to develop an alcohol awareness programme that involves training community people to facilitate experiential learning sessions to explore the cultural and social forces that promote at-risk drinking. The outcome has been an increased awareness of the dangers of excessive alcohol use and a reduction in alcohol consumption among participants.

“The programme provides a realistic experience for people and encourages them to reflect and discuss the implications of what they are doing” John said, following the award presentation in Auckland. This is similar to the TUF: Thriving Under Fire programme where people focus on the specific situations they find difficult in their workplace and develop new ways of responding that build positive relationships.

TUF: Thriving Under Fire won the award for facilitation and delivery at the last award ceremony in 2008.
