Aftershock - Helping rebuild Canterbury Businesses

Friday October 8, 2010

Sponsorship Opportunity

Overview

Aftershock CHCH was put together by Grow Your Business, Advancing

Businesses and Left click in order to help rebuild Christchurch businesses after the 4th

September quake. Many businesses have lost their markets, lost focus and are looking

for clarity in the months ahead. Others have gained markets well beyond their current

capabilities but still have some of the same issues that other more affected businesses

are facing.

The types of issues businesses are facing are as follows:

  • Stressed and tired brains – they don’t have focus
  • Major uncertainty
  • What’s happened to the market
  • When will people kick back into some of their normal patterns
  • What support is there for them
  • Supply chain issues
  • Cashflow issues
  • Unable to forecast because they don’t know what is going to happen
  • How much money do they need to support them till things are back to normal
  • People issues
  • Unfocused employees
  • Possible redundancies
  • Stress leave
  •  Resignations
  • Lack of staff to handle increase in business
  • Paying wages when low business coming in

These are only a few. This is a catalyst for change for many and there are many opportunities to repaint the canvas.

Our objectives:

  • To help business owners get their heads around some of their key issues and how they can be handled and/or resolved
  • To take business owners out of the immediate, and get some focus on the future
  • Give business owners some tools and immediate action points to stay on top
  • To help rebuild Canterbury businesses
  • To utilize the business community to help those in need through collaboration and community spirit

‘Next actions’ decided by attendees through seminar

    A workbook for attendees

Workshops: Bi- weekly till mid December

    Bi- weekly till mid December

We will run a number of workshops which will go into the issues in considerably more

depth. Business owners will have the choice of attending individual workshops, or join

as a 90 day business rebuild programme. We envisage lower numbers in these events

    to remain effective.

Our aim is to provide these at either no cost or a very small cost per business. This will

depend on the level of sponsorship we are able to secure.

All workshop participants will have access to an individual session with an Advancing

    Businesses coach.

Our first event will be on 12 October – This will mostly be filled by our immediate

contacts and GYB members and clients while other channels are readying themselves

    to invite clients.
