Overview:
Growing and adding value to your business in a competitive marketplace can be a challenge, though it is not impossible.

In this one-day workshop you will learn how to go about researching and developing new products and processes that meet the needs of both existing and new customers and will increase your revenues. You will also learn how to take advantage of external funding and support to maximise your investment in these business growth activities.

Who Should Attend:
Business people who wish to grow their businesses through development of new products and services and improvement of existing products, services and processes.
The course is aimed at SMEs and companies who have not carried out research and development projects before. However, organisations that don't fit into these groups may also benefit.

•What to consider before you start eg. problem to be solved, strategic fit, intellectual property, commercialisation, collaboration.

Course Format:
There will be a maximum of 12 participants. Learning will be based on brief presentations, workshop activities and group discussions.

Teachers:
Kieran Nolan works in business growth strategy, primarily in the areas of research, product development and commercialisation. He works with organisations that are creating new ideas, concepts and product innovations; and are developing new capabilities and processes. His experience spans academic and applied science, industrial manufacturing and both early stage and established business ventures. He has a background in the pharmaceutical industry, mainly in drug development. Since moving from the world of multi-national corporations, he has worked in start-up companies and he continues to work in this area as an advisor and mentor with businesses developing and launching new products.
Kevin Crume, MBA, PhD, has over a decade of experience as a front-line innovator and innovation manager. Over the course of his career, he developed and managed a range of research and development projects including drug development for the neurodegenerative disorder multiple sclerosis, lung cancer detection kits, and direct drug delivery devices to treat specific cellular conditions such as cancer. As a research manager, he facilitated the development of grant proposals delivering over $15M worth of funding for R&D projects. Currently, he is the lead consultant and coach with Stepwise Limited.
