This is a three month modular “while you work” programme for middle and senior-level managers. The programme is suitable for those who don’t want to complete a formal course of study, but want to learn with others working through real case-studies from a range of different organisations throughout New Zealand.

The programme is experiential and from a functional perspective covers:

Strategy (including strategic thinking)
Change
Finance
Operations
Marketing
People
Governance

Leadership is a key component throughout the programme. You will experience the development of a high performing team and learn about your own leadership style.

If you have expertise in a particular business area, such as finance, marketing, sales, operations, law or human resources, this programme will give you strategic take-outs from the other key functional areas.

Most of the course work will be completed as part of a team. Each team will come up with solutions to real problems and business cases – and present them to a panel of industry reps or leaders from the organisation.

The on-programme work is spread over four modules of 2 days duration.

Dates:

Module 1: Thursday 4 July and Friday 5 July 2013
Module 2: Thursday 25 July and Friday 26 July 2013
Module 3: Thursday 29 August and Friday 30 August 2013
Module 4: Thursday 26 September and Friday 27 September 2013
Stephen Drain

In 2009 Stephen Drain founded the Centre for Innovative Leadership at AUT University in Auckland, New Zealand. Through the Centre he developed and ran authentic and innovative leadership programmes for senior leaders.

Before his journey into leadership development he had a career in fraud investigation and although he didn’t know it at the time the understanding that comes from dealing with a wide range of people, some at their worst, was invaluable in growing an understanding of the human condition.

Stephen learned that happiness is a life purpose and his leadership development work and own career are both guided by this principle.
Stephen now works within Advisory at PwC in Auckland combining his forensic and leadership development knowledge. He continues to have an association with AUT University to run the Innovative Leaders and Authentic Leadership Programmes.

Stephen has an MBA and a post-graduate Diploma in Business (Finance) from The University of Auckland and is accredited in a number of personality profiling and feedback instruments including Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Saville Wave and FIRO-B. Stephen is a Professional Member of the Human Resources Institute, the New Zealand Association of Psychological Type, the Institute of Directors in New Zealand and the YMCA Marathon Club too.
