In this workshop you will look at different types of remuneration and reward systems and how they work to motivate, recognise and reward employees, as well as how they contribute to employee retention. You will also cover ways to set salaries (including job evaluation, market data and salary ranges), how to review salaries (based on individual performance, company performance or a combination) as well as short and long term incentive schemes (including sales incentive schemes, annual bonuses and share schemes). Non-financial recognition schemes and how they work with remuneration structures will also be covered.

This is a practical workshop where youwill learn the pros and cons of different approaches and work through real life case studies - where systems have worked well and when they have not. Youwill also have the opportunity to use what you learn and design a reward system (both financial and non-financial rewards) for a real company and assess what works and what does not. Most importantly, you will then be able to relate this back to your current organisation’s remuneration system.
Angela Atkins has worked in HR and training roles for almost 15 years. She is the author of two bestselling NZ books: Management Bites and Employment Bites. She is the General Manager at Elephant Training - working as an HR Manager for SME's, designing and running training as well as other HR project work.

Lisa Reidy is an experienced senior HR Manager and Kaizen (continuous improvement) expert. She joined Elephant in 2009 and heads up our Business Services division. She works on business improvements, HR and facilitates training.
